Picnic is a pioneer in online grocery delivery in the Netherlands, Germany, and France. It serves its clients through its online platform. Picnic’s major physical brand expression is its fleet of electric delivery vehicles, the electric Picnic vehicles (ePV) which make them a vital brand touchpoint.
We partnered closely with Picnic to further translate the brand’s values into a physical visual brand language and ensured that the design of Picnic’s ePV’s and creation of a friendly and approachable vehicle underline and deliver on Picnic’s mission to deliver groceries with a smile.
The primary challenge was to maintain the functional integrity of the ePV while transforming its appearance to be more friendly and approachable. This project set the foundation for developing a vehicle with a complete Picnic identity.
Investing in a unique identity for their delivery vehicles is crucial for an online supermarket like Picnic. These vehicles must reflect a friendly and approachable character in crowded urban environments. Additionally, as moving advertisements, they attract new customers and enhance brand visibility in the urban landscape.
The project focuses on redesigning the vehicle’s front because it is identified as the most impactful area of the vehicle and changing the edgy design of the ePV.
To ensure swift development and short lead time, the design maintained the current ePV’s fixation points, headlamps, and indicator positions. MODYN provided Picnic with design and engineering support and developed a draftable CAD A-surfacing for tooling.
